Information and globalistic aspects of S. Bulgakov’s
“Philosophy of the Economy
| Ekon. prognozuvannâ 2003; 2:55-65 | |
ABSTRACT ▼
“Philosophy of the economy” by an outstanding Ukrainian economist and religious philosopher S. Bulgakov is not often quoted by modern economists, though its concept contains quite a few ideas which are urgent even now. The article is devoted to specifying those aspects of S. Bulgakov’s work that should be further developed in the contemporary world. First of all that relates to searching for the ways to develop such a philosophy of economic life which would be able to meet the requirements of the modern globalized society with its information nature and environmental problems. The author shows that in religious and philosophic relation (through the concept of the humanity’s “sophiity”) S. Bulgakov in many ways predicted globalization of the economy and creation of the world information and communication system.
