In connection with the urgent character of natural-agricultural zoning of the territory of Ukraine, the authors outline the basic principles of the FAO-elaborated methodology of agro-ecological zoning for estimation of soil productivity. The article provides preliminary results of the estimation of domestic agricultural potential, which were obtained within the framework of collaboration with International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis

A forecast of sowing areas, yields and out-put by administrative oblasts’ is provided for the period of 2007–2010. The authors analyze the Development Programs for rapeseed and biodiesel production, define the main tasks and provide proposals for their realization
